How We Started

Our Story

Diogo Cooks was founded on the idea that food has the power to transport you to a different place and time. Our menu is inspired by the traditional dishes of Nigeria, bringing the taste of home to those who miss it most.

When Chidiogo, the founder and owner of Diogo Cooks, first arrived in the UK many years ago, she found herself missing the comforts of home—the way of life, the people, and most of all, the food. These were the meals she had grown up with, dishes that brought warmth and held cherished memories of family and friends.

While London offered a world of new and exciting cuisines, there were moments when she longed for the familiar taste of over-the-stove Jollof or the yam pounded by hand in a mortar. In an effort to reconnect with her roots, Diogo Cooks began as a small kitchen experiment, where she invited friends and family to share in the flavours of home.

As word spread, what started as intimate gatherings grew into something much bigger. Over the past five years, Diogo Cooks has become a culinary bridge for many Nigerian immigrants in the UK, filling the gap left by home.

Each bite from Diogo Cooks isn’t just a meal; it’s a story—one of home, heritage, and the sacrifices made in the pursuit of dreams. Through our food, we aim to bring a piece of Nigeria to your table, offering comfort, connection, and a taste of home.
